Hello from Guatemala!
One week in Guatemala and man has it been a good one! Last Sunday we said goodbye to Costa Rica and hello to our new country for the next 2 months. Our first night here was filled with worship and a call to partner with the ministries here to continue doing the work that God is already doing in and through Guatemala. After that, God continued to show off His goodness and greatness while we were stargazing on the roof of the house my team is staying at. We are located in Ciudad Vieja which is in between three volcanoes (two of them being dormant and one active). While we were watching the stars, God allowed us to see Fuego (the active volcano) erupt with lava and a shooting star go across the sky at the same time. It was probably the most amazing thing I have seen in my 24 years of life.
This first week of ministry has been so fulfilling. We are partnering with a ministry called Love. Serve. where we are currently building a house (before we started the actual building we had to do some demolition and dang that was really fun!!), doing kids ministry/kids club, and food distribution/soup kitchens. In the upcoming weeks we will also be helping with some medical clinics (which is really cool because God blessed my team with 2 nurses and a med student) and I may possibly have the chance to do some dental hygiene stuff within that which would be really really sweet and cool to experience here!
God has really blessed me and my team not only in Costa Rica but continues to do so here in Guatemala. The couple we are living with and the family we are partnering with in ministry all have the biggest heart. Love and life flow through their actions and words. They are filled with complete generosity and hold nothing back. God has been so so kind in sending me the exact people into this season of life to continue to show me and remind/reteach me about His goodness, love and generosity towards me.
I’m so excited that we will be in Guatemala for the next 2 months. My team and I already get sad thinking about when we have to leave. Until then we’ll continue to press into all that God wants to do in and through us here in Guatemala.
I like you A LOT, Guatemala. And love you A LOT, God.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support me and check in with me.
Love, McKayla
